Inventing Samanta (Our Ray of Hope)

Available now for touring!

Youth Underground (YU) is an ensemble that creates and performs original theater that investigates social issues relevant to young people, and inspires them to make a difference in their communities. In partnership with Lemelson-MIT, playwright Betsy Bard created  Inventing Samanta. The play follows a group of very different high school students coming together to learn about the process and creativity of becoming an inventor and why – despite age, identity, or background – everyone can be an inventor.

Touring performances of Inventing Samanta:

  • Are performed by YU Ambassadors (ages 19-25)
  • Run approximately 60 minutes, including the play and an interactive discussion between the performers and the audience
  • Can take place at Central Square Theater in Cambridge, or at your site
  • Are available from January – February 2025
  • Are best suited for students in grades 5-9.
