General Information
Youth Underground (YU) refers to two resident youth performance ensembles at Central Square Theater. YU creates and performs original theater that investigates social issues relevant to young people and our world. The groups are split by age:
Youth Underground Delegates, Ages 13-18
Youth Underground Ambassadors, Ages 19-25
YU Delegates meet Sundays 6-8pm throughout the Academic Year.
YU Ambassadors meet Mondays 6-9pm throughout the Academic Year.

Youth Underground Member Benefits
- Training from professional theater artists in acting, voice, movement, ensemble performance, text analysis, and devising/playmaking
- Opportunity to create, perform, and tour (Ambassadors) new work as a way of inspiring civic activism

- Inventing Samanta (Our Ray of Hope)
- Act Up & Vote!, an original play exploring Voting and Civic Engagement
- Curiosity is easier to land on than Hope, an original play exploring LGBTQ+ identity, rights, and acceptance
- Here and There, an original play investigating Immigration
- Recovery, exploring Youth Mental Health
- Circle Up!, an original play investigating the Achievement Gap
