Summer Stage 2010

Take the Stage at
Central Square Theater!
Transform into a comedian, set designer, or leading lady. Work with Underground Railway Theater’s staff of professional theater artists and perform in our state of the art theaters. It’s a summer stage take-over!
Classes are
Monday - Friday, 9am - 3pm.
Stage 1: Character Creation (ages 6-12)
June 28 - July 2
Learn how to transform into some of theater’s most exciting stage characters. Comedians, Leading Ladies, Tragic Heroes and Vicious Villains abound.
Stage 2: Acting Funny (8-12)
July 6 - July 16
Learn the how-tos of theatrical comedy. We’ll explore the classics -Vaudeville, Physical Comedy, and Slap-Stick—and culminate in a performance of hilarious proportions.
Stage 3: Brave the Bard! (ages 8-12)
July 19 - July 30
Tackle one of Shakespeare’s most intriguing plays, Twelfth Night. In two weeks, learn how to understand, interpret, and perform the most enduring theater.
BackSTAGE: (11-15)
July 19 - July 30
Explore theater from the other side of the stage. Build and paint scenery, create dazzling lighting effects, and learn how plays are created from the ground-up!
Counselor-in-Training (CIT) Program: (13-16):
CITs assist the Underground Railway Theater professional theater artists in an advanced theater and leadership experience. Available for all sessions. Audition/interview required. Inquire for more details.

2010-11 Fall/Winter Classes
Advanced Actor: Young performers looking for professional theater experience will train with URT teaching artists and professional theater artists in preparation for a Mainstage performance in March. Training and rehearsals begin in the Fall.
Page to Stage: URT’s successful playwriting curriculum gives aspiring writers the opportunity to have their voices heard. Playwrights create original scripts and have their work performed by peer actors.
Vacation Week Intensives: A theater immersion experience during February and April school vacation weeks including puppetry, physical theater, character creation and more!
